The three-step routine that does more than ten ever did

Most shelves are crowded because most routines are guessing. Here's the honest, doctor-led case for doing less — and why your skin will quietly thank you for it.

Walk into most bathrooms and you'll find a shelf that looks like a small pharmacy — eight, ten, twelve products, each promising the thing the last one didn't deliver. It feels thorough. It's usually just expensive guessing.

Healthy skin doesn't need a long routine. It needs the right short one, done consistently. For most people, that's three steps.

1. Cleanse — gently, once or twice a day

The goal is to remove the day, not to strip your skin. If your face feels tight and squeaky after washing, the cleanser is too harsh. Comfortable and clean is the target.

2. Treat — one active, chosen for your skin

This is the step that actually changes things: a single, well-matched active — a vitamin C in the morning, or a retinoid at night — introduced slowly. One at a time, so if something reacts, you know exactly what.

3. Protect — sunscreen, every single morning

If you do one thing on this list, do this one. Daily SPF protects every result you're working for, and prevents most of what people come to us later to correct.

The best routine is the one you'll actually keep — not the longest one you can buy.

Everything beyond these three is refinement, not foundation. When we build a plan at Sunshine, we start here and add only what your skin is genuinely asking for. Less shelf. Better skin.
